Oral Hygiene explained

Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean to prevent dental problems, most commonly, dental cavities, gingivitis, and bad breath. Although the mouth can also be kept clean and healthy by brushing and flossing, specialized cleaning and treatment may be required from time to time. Every so often the intervention or guidance of an expert is required.

Orthodontics explained

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. It can also focus on modifying facial growth, known as dentofacial orthopedics

AquaCare is a dental air abrasion unit, enabling you to provide contact-free and minimally invasive dentistry (MID), making routine dental procedures painless for patients. With its use of various powder textures on the tooth surface, AquaCare can improve bond strengths, desensitising, remineralising and prophylaxis treatments. Fissures can be cleared, and cavities can be cut – in many cases without the need for the drill or needle. The AquaCare is completely air driven with no electrical parts requiring less maintenance than electronic equipment. There are also no pumps and no leaking as the AquaCare works entirely with air pressure.

Teeth whitening removes the built up staining caused by normal everyday life.
Our in office treatment consists of 1 session which spans 2 hours. We use the Zoom in-office teeth whiting procedure, which is designed to lighten the colour of your teeth using a combination of a hydrogen peroxide gel and a specially designed visible LED light lamp. The Zoom treatment involves using the gel and lamp in conjunction with each other to produce maximum whitening results in the shortest possible time. After the whitening treatment it is natural for teeth to regress somewhat in their shade. This is normally a gradual process but can be accelerated by exposing the teeth to various staining agents. We recommend staying away from any food that would stain a white shirt (Coffee, red wine, curries etc.) for 2 to 3 days after having the whitening done. To prolong your whitening we provide a take-home kit with custom made trays. This kit will also contain a relief agent that should help with any sensitivity you might experience.

Panoramic radiography, also called panoramic x-ray, is a two-dimensional (2-D) dental x-ray examination that captures the entire mouth in a single image, including the teeth, upper and lower jaws, surrounding structures and tissues. A panoramic x-ray is an important diagnostic tool. It covers a wider area than a conventional intraoral x-ray and, as a result, provides valuable information about the nasal area, maxillary sinuses, tooth positioning and gum and bone irregularities. This examination is also used to plan treatment for crowns, extractions and implants.

We provide both composite and porcelain fillings, depending on the size of the cavity and recommended treatment.
Our porcelain fillings, also known as onlays or inlays, are created in house and will be placed on the same day.
Both filling options are completely metal free, giving a natural look to the filling, while still being strong and long lasting.

Bridges are three or more crowns connected together to replace missing teeth. They involve the preparation of the teeth adjacent to a space and can be a useful for cases that do not allow the placement of an implant. Depending on the size of the bridge we can create them in house. If, however they bridge is too large we will have to send them to a lab and they can take slightly longer to be created. For the bridges we created in house we can however have them completed the same day. All our bridges are porcelain and are completely metal free, giving you a natural looking tooth.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant, and the best candidates have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease. Dental implants are intimately connected with the gum tissues and underlying bone in the mouth. Once placed the implant will below the gum line. After a healing period of 3-6 months the tooth part of the implant can be placed. Depending on your specific condition and the type of implant chosen, we will create a treatment plan tailored to meet your needs.

Root canal treatment is required when the tooth is damaged either by decay or fractures to the extent that the nerve is affected and causing pain. The process is done in 2 stages. In the first appointment the nerve is removed from the tooth which will relieve pain and a medicament is placed in the root. A temporary filling is placed and the tooth is left to settle for a few days. The second appointment involves widening the canals in the roots to accommodate a rubber filling that is placed to seal the canal. It is highly recommended that a crown is made for the tooth after a root canal as the remaining tooth is more fragile and prone to fracture.

Crowns are best described as “helmets” for your teeth. They cover the entire portion of the tooth above the gum line. They are best used to restore severely broken down teeth to its original shape and prevent further fractures. They are also used for cosmetic purposes such as correcting a smile or straightening teeth when orthodontics are not an option. Crowns are strongly recommended to provide protection for teeth that have undergone root canal treatment. All our crowns are porcelain and are completely metal free, giving you a natural looking tooth that will last longer. We created all our crowns in house as thus we can offer a fast turnaround time and can even deliver your crowns the same day.

Veneers are described as “masks” for your teeth. They are a layer of porcelain that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth for both cosmetic and preventative purposes. They require less preparation than a crown and are best used to correct chips or fractures on the front teeth. They are also an alternate method to whiten your smile when conventional teeth whitening is ineffective. Veneers are ideal for aesthetic cases involving the correcting of smiles as they minimize damage to the teeth. We created all our veneers in house as thus we can offer a fast turnaround time and can even deliver your veneers the same day.

People also use Botox to treat excessive sweating, migraines, muscular disorders, and some bladder and bowel disorders. It can last anything between 3 to 6 months, depending on how many units is injected.

Injectable filler is a soft tissue filler injected into the skin at different depths to help fill in facial wrinkles, provide facial volume, and augment facial features: restoring a smoother appearance.
